GRIPS Authoring

The content of the information units is entered according to a specific information type structure, either using the GRIPS Editor or special forms. On completion of editing, the edited information unit can be assigned a status which indicates the stage of content development. In the fully configurable status model any processing statuses can be defined (e.g. check language, check technical accuracy or clear). And finally, the access permissions for an information unit can be defined according to its current processing status, by means of status-dependent user authorizations.

Those functionalities enable task-based multi-user processing across two dimensions. Firstly, different types of information can be entered by different users (e.g. technical data entered directly by the developer) and secondly, an information unit can be corrected/optimized by users with specialist qualifications (e.g. proof-readers) dependent on its processing status.

In fact, GRIPS' Global Virtual Collaboration Room features enable concurrent, globally distributed authoring in multiple source languages.

GRIPS Editor provides technical authors with:

  • In-context document neutral information capture

  • Guidance for greater consistency, branding support and lower translation costs

  • MindReader – dynamic sentence and word proposals in context

  • Integrated terminology management

  • Complete semantic structuring, enabling programmatic access

MindReader, which is integrated into the GRIPS Editor, provides the author with context-sensitive sentence and terminology suggestions from existing phrases while entering text. Identical content is thus identically phrased, in all languages. In this way, MindReader helps companies achieve as much as 70% or more content re-use. This level of re-usability significantly increases consistency and quality while driving down documentation and translation costs.
